Democrats Expose Themselves

I couldn’t sleep Wednesday night.

Normally I don’t go looking for fights, even though they often find me, but I was bored!

I decided to troll the leftwits at the Huffington Post forums.

Okay, that isn’t exactly true.  I was reading stories about the floor vote at the DNC convention to add the words “God” and “Jerusalem” back into the Democrat’s platform, and I wanted to see how the liberals were reacting to it.  It all started out as simple honest interest in how they viewed those events.  I didn’t plan to engage in any heckling, but, as I said, I was bored!

For me, the events of Wednesday’s floor vote sums up everything about the Democrats in one neat little package.  All you ever needed to know about them is encapsulated in one little video caught by C-Span:

1)      Racism is alive and well, and resides in the Democrat Party.

2)      Democrats will go to any lengths to deceive the public.

3)      The Godless do indeed make up a large contingent of the DNC.

4)      Anti-Semitism is rampant among liberals.

5)      Democrats use crass demagoguery to keep minority factions in line.

6)      Democrats will throw their own under the bus.

7)      Votes only count to Democrats if they like the results.

Racist Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (who thinks that he belongs to “the” race) was the perfect choice by the Democrats to represent them as their Convention Chairman.  He embodies the liberal notion of placing the color of one’s skin ahead of the content of their character, and, as if any further proof was needed, this event leaves no doubt that he is personally bereft of any such character.

This vote was a set up from the beginning.  It was a contrived effort to attack Mitt Romney for not being 100% in line with the Republican platform, which, in this case apparently calls for abortion to be restricted with no exceptions.  Romney would leave exceptions for rape, incest and the health of the mother.  Democrats spent a good part of last week trying to make some political hay out of that difference, but didn’t gain any traction.  Most everyone knows that a fresh political candidate has little control over their party platform.  Only incumbents, like Barack Obama, really have that power.

The Democrats concocted this political maneuver in order to try to slam Romney while portraying Barack Obama as a forceful leader.  They were deriding Romney for not having the “courage” to attack the Republican platform and force it to mirror his own views.  The original wording of the Democrats platform was written with the intent of setting the stage to allow for the “heroic” Obama to rush in and save the day by demanding that his own platform be changed to his will.

Unfortunately, for them, they let the cat out of the bag earlier in the week by letting it be known that Obama signed off on the original wording.

Also unfortunately, for them, the masquerade backfired in a spectacular and glorious fashion!

So, as Villaraigosa took the stage at the DNC, with his teleprompter already displaying the results of a vote he had not yet taken, he was met with something that he didn’t expect:

Resistance!

Everybody knows that happy little liberals are not allowed to disagree with the stated party line!  It doesn’t even matter how ridiculous the spin might be!  They’ll keep to it.  I guess they just weren’t prepared for the talking points to change, and Villaraigosa was DEFINITELY not prepared for the delegate’s reaction to those changes!

The delegate’s reaction to the notion of adding God back to the platform was very telling, as was the reaction that I saw among many liberals posting at The Huffington Post.  They railed at the notion of the “sky fairy” being mentioned in a political setting.  They revealed that they believe that anyone who believes in such “fairy tales” could not be rational or intelligent.

I pointed out to them that it was Obama himself that forced the wording changes.  So, either Obama believes in God, which, by their logic, would make him irrational, or Obama doesn’t believe in God, which makes his own platform a lie.

By their own definition, Obama is either an idiotic lunatic, or a liar… or both.

They REALLY didn’t like to hear that much!  They weren’t able to refute the point, so many of my posts were deleted by the site moderators and deemed as “personal attacks”.  Apparently pointing out logical fallacies to a liberal equates to attacking them personally.

The Anti-Semitism among liberals and Democrats was evidenced by the people carrying “Arab-American Democrat” signs (like we really need more hyphenated “Americans”?) and shouting “NO!” to the notion of confirming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  There is a huge contingent of Pro-Palestinian, Anti-Israel Democrats.  They may, in fact, make up the majority of that party.  Jewish people in America are finally starting to wake up to that reality, and more and more are “defecting” to the Republican Party every day.  I thought it very telling that the Democrats had to rush out to attempt damage control.

There was even the claim that conservative Christians only care about Israel because, according to Palm Beach County Democratic Chairman Mark Alan Siegel, The Christians just want us to be there so we can be slaughtered and converted and bring on the second coming of Jesus Christ”.

Disgusting.

But what I thought was the funniest part about this whole ordeal was how the vote was rigged from the beginning, and I was delighted as I watched Villaraigosa throw his own party’s delegates under the bus!  The look on his face was just pure comedy gold!

Two-thirds of the delegates would have been required to accede to the changes for the vote to have passed, but there is no way that anyone residing within a realm with the slightest connection to reality could claim there was a 2/3 vote in favor of either side.

But the fix was in.

Thanks to video taken at the event, we know now that Villaraigosa’s teleprompter was already set up for him to read the results as being in favor of making the changes.  This demonstrates beyond any doubt that the Democrats only care about votes if those votes are going their way.

If they will ignore the votes of their own delegates to fix an election at their own convention, how can that leave any doubt about what they would do in a general election?

This one event nearly sums up the entire case against the Democrats and liberals.

Shot Down In Flames!

Oh, my, my, my!

SPANKED!

What a wonderful and glorious political week we have had!

Barack Obama and David Axelrod have invented a brand new game called “Hidin’ Biden”.

You have to love it.  After a week full of miscues that would have thrown the Obama campaign off message–if they actually had a message–Vice President Joe Biden got sent home to Delaware to stew for a while.  That would be funny enough, except that the White House released the announcement and actually titled it “Daily Guidance for the Vice President”.

Whoops!  Sounds like poor old Uncle Joe got spanked!

You just can not make that stuff up, and the Democrats are like the gift that keeps on giving this week..!

And, as it turns out, my musings from yesterday were not quite on target…

I speculated that John McCain may have made toxic the notion of replacing Biden with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  Certainly that is what the Obama campaign would like us all to believe.  It did make sense to me, because Obama can never admit to making a mistake, especially publicly, and liberals across the nation recoiled at the idea of “taking VP advice” from McCain.

But apparently Axelrod and company DID try to recruit Hillary to replace Biden, and she shot them down!

I guess that the thought of attaching her political fortunes to someone like Barack Obama didn’t give her the warm fuzzies.  I still think it would have been really bad for us if she had accepted Obama’s offer, and that it could have been her best chance at becoming president in 2016, but–assuming they won this year–who can blame her for balking at the prospect of having to run on Obama’s dismal record?

Two members of the Obama campaign shot down in flames!  Shall we go for three..?

The coup de gras for Obama’s political week came in the form of Jim Messina.  Obama’s campaign manager has made overtures to the Romney campaign that almost certainly resulted in explosive laughter throughout the Romney/Ryan campaign headquarters:

“Please Mr. Mitt, can’t we just have a few more of those tax returns to dig through?  We promise we won’t ever bug you again for more!  We’ll be nice!  We swear!”

THAT, my friends, is pretty pathetic!

They will do anything to keep from talking about the real issues in this election, and Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan as his Vice President has them freaking out and shedding hair (except for Axelrod; he already shed his).

If I were the one writing Romney’s press release to respond, it would look something like this:

“BWAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahahahaha!!!”

The Democrats are damned dangerous to this country, and Obama has been a complete disaster…

But never let it be said that they don’t provide us with comic relief!

Did McCain Make Hillary Toxic?

Lately I have had a sinking feeling in my gut.

Is he on his way out now?

Joe Biden has been running around the country making gaffes, which is fairly normal for him.  What isn’t normal is the number of gaffes made in a row, or the willingness of the media to cover them, however briefly.

Why does this matter..?

In politics, it is very hard to remove someone from a ticket without seeing a substantial backlash, unless there is a good and well-known reason for doing so.

To me, this all looks like a politically calculated set up.

The Obama campaign is stagnating.  They’re out of ideas, and have gone fully negative.  With no achievements to crow about, they have nothing positive with which to hang their hats upon.  Joe Biden doesn’t add anything for the Obama team this year.  In fact, he almost certainly represents a net loss for the campaign as a whole.  He keeps taking them off of their message.  He is seen as a buffoon everywhere except for the most liberal of circles.

He just isn’t good old “Uncle Joe” anymore.  He’s a liability.

Barack Obama does not like liabilities.

Enter Hillary Clinton.

Many pundits and politicians have made comments recently about the notion of replacing Biden with Clinton.  Seriously, I wish they would all shut the hell up!

I have nightmares about this scenario.

The Democrats would almost certainly win under this scenario.

After 4 years on the world stage, does Hillary still have presidential ambitions? Or has she set her sights elsewhere?

Like it, or not, Clinton’s positives are through the roof for a politician; higher than anyone currently in the race, regardless of the fact that she is one of the most corrupt figures in American political history.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I suppose.

If she still holds ambitions for the presidency, her best shot in 2016 would be from the catbird seat of Vice President.  Still, Clinton might be inclined to turn down such an offer, were one extended to her.  By all accounts, she just isn’t very fond of Barack Obama, and who could blame her after the tactics that Obama’s handler David Axelrod used against her in the last presidential primaries?

But her ambitions were enough to allow her to overcome those negative feelings and take the job as Secretary of State.  It isn’t a stretch to think that she would put her ambition for power ahead of everything else, given that she has done exactly that her entire life.

But will Obama even offer her the job?

Recently, I have been feeling it in the political winds that such a storm was brewing.

John McCain may have provided shelter from that storm.

During a recent interview on Fox News, McCain said that he would drop Biden and replace him with Hillary.  He also said that Hillary was not likely to go along with that plan, but I don’t trust that notion very much, and it isn’t really pertinent here.

What does matter is that the liberal blogosphere was completely apoplectic about the notion of taking advice from that rotten, evil bastard John McCain.

Ah, good old childish liberals.  So very predictable.

Was McCain being a Jedi Master of reverse psychology?  Probably not.  He was most likely just vocalizing what many of us were thinking.  Again, I wish some people would shut the hell up!  But in this case, I am actually glad he did it.  McCain, wittingly or not, has shored up support for Biden to remain on the Obama ticket.

And John, if this works, I forgive you for everything!

Crazy Uncle Joe Strikes Again!

Vice President Joe Biden is a walking, talking gaffe machine on steroids.

Liberals love “Uncle Joe”.

The President of our Senate literally does nothing more than run around the country saying stupid things.  That is his entire job, and he does it well.

For the life of me, I can not think of a single thing that this man has accomplished in his entire career.  And no, liberals, managing to get himself re-elected to the Senate a number of times doesn’t count as an accomplishment, as much as you may think that getting elected is all that matters.

I’m beginning to think that Obama may indeed be a brilliant strategist.  He knew that his policies would go over like a stone for most people, and he needed insurance against getting impeached.

Enter Joe Biden.

No one wants to see that guy become President of anything.

That the media consistently sweeps under the rug the rantings of good old “Uncle Joe” is proof enough of their extreme bias.  But Biden’s latest trip into brain-addled psychedelia crosses lines, even for him.

In front of a small crowd in North Carolina, Biden made some of the most heinous remarks I’ve heard yet, and I hope that at least some people in the media call him out for them.  I’m not even going to quote him.  You really just need to watch it for yourself.  It’s short.

.

I’m not even sure to start with this one, but I may actually be more frightened of the people fawning in the background with their glassy eyes and painted smiles, dutifully and mechanically slapping their hands together in response to a statement that anyone with even a modicum of intelligence would reject instantly.

The fact that Joe Biden feels comfortable enough to bring up Paul Ryan’s deceased father says it all.  He knows he won’t be called on it, despicable as it may be.  Ryan’s father died when he was fifteen years old.  That should be off-limits for any politician.  But the Democrats have no class whatsoever, and the double-standard in play allows them to get personal in the ugliest of ways, while the media happily goes along with their narrative that Republicans are equally ugly for daring to talk about the actual policies of this president.

But “Show me your budget”..?

Really, Joe..?!

How insane is that?

So, by your own standards, Joe, since you have no budget, you have no values at all..?

That one I can buy.

Even assuming that Biden had anything at all to do with the Obama budget proposals, which is unlikely, those budgets failed to get a single vote even from Democrats in the Senate, much less Republicans.  Given the disastrous end to his budget proposals, Obama might actually be considering giving Biden the credit for them.

Biden, as President of the Senate, has not seen a budget passed in three years, despite the fact that the Constitution requires one to be passed.  Apart from Obama’s laughable efforts, the Democrats haven’t even bothered to propose a budget, at all.

But Paul Ryan has, and the Democrats are terrified of it.

Did the Democrats work with Ryan to compromise and find bi-partisan solutions?  They’re supposed to be all about that, right?

On the contrary, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid won’t even allow a vote in the Senate on any budget passed in the House, because he knows they have a good chance of passing in the Senate, even under a Democrat majority.

Talk about the “Party of NO”.

Yes, the Democrats are terrified of the Ryan budget proposals, even though it would be Romney’s proposals taking the lead in a Romney/Ryan administration.  But what terrifies them even more is the contrast of a sensible, intelligent Ryan to the senseless, unintelligible Biden that will become more apparent the closer we get to November, despite the media’s efforts to hide it.

Who would be a better leader for our country?

Democrats don’t want Americans asking that question.

Resenting Paul Ryan

I’ve been feeling pretty old lately.  Whiny and narcissistic maybe, but old just the same.  My body has taken a pretty bad beating over the years, but I am still young enough to remember how it felt off the showroom floor.  I’m going back to college late in life, and most of the people there are much younger than I am.

I feel old.

Paul Ryan has been confirmed as Mitt Romney’s Vice Presidential pick this morning, and everyone is talking about how young and energetic he is.

Could he be TOO young, they wonder..?

At 42, Paul Ryan is slightly older than I am.

Yeah…  I’m hating THAT guy..!

Wisconsin Representative and Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan

But all jokes aside, everyone is wondering this morning how this will affect the Romney campaign, and the pundit in me is no different.

Politically, this is easy.  Ryan is a heavy-hitter in the House of Representatives.  So influential, in fact, that many pundits like me wondered aloud over the last few weeks if it would be detrimental to the party as a whole to take him away from that position.

Looking back, that was perhaps a foolish argument.  The House is in no real danger of falling to the Democrats, even if Ryan’s Wisconsin seat is lost to them, which is by no means a fait accompli.  Ryan would still be in a position to hold great influence in the House, while at the same time he would become President of the Senate, even if the position exists historically as a tie-breaker.

A policy wonk like Ryan would utilize the Vice Presidency like none before him.

This move also sets up the Romney campaign in a positive way.  It allows them to hit Obama/Biden on a policy level with a great deal of credibility; something they have otherwise failed to accomplish.  Obama won’t want to go toe-to-toe with Ryan in a policy debate, and he sure isn’t going to want Joe Biden to do it!

Expect Obama’s campaign to go even more negative, which leads me to my only real concern about Ryan’s VP nod:

Ryan has already been demonized in the media.  They REALLY don’t like him.  I suspect that they will resent the fact that they can not call him stupid, as they have with pretty much every Republican in my lifetime, including Ronald Reagan.  But they have already had some success at portraying Ryan as a heartless Republican throwing Grandma down the stairs.

I have to wonder, with Romney’s negatives at this point, if another guy with similar issues was the way to go.  I hate to bring race into it, but we all know that the Democrats will, so…  Now we have two “rich white guys who hate minorities and want to take the goodie bags away from those poor people Obama shelters with such loving care”.

That makes me a bit antsy.  It also makes me nauseous just having typed it.

The media won’t have a choice but to talk about how serious a choice this is, and that will give off a lot of credibility going in, but how long will it take before they flip the switch and go full negative..?

We have to be ready for that.

EDIT:  Ryan himself is already proving that he will indeed be ready!  What a great choice for VP!  The rest of us need to be ready, too!  I couldn’t be more excited…

Rush Was Wrong

Listening to Rush during my drive today (I like Rush, but I was really waiting for Dana Loesch to come on afterward), I heard him say something peculiar.

Rush is usually right, but not today.

He was addressing a caller who was wondering why one of Romney’s campaign managers could be so inept as to bring up Romneycare in response to the crazy Joe Soptic advertisement.  That response, of course, was about as incompetent as it was possible for it to be.   This led Rush to diagnose the difference between the Democrats and Republicans.

Rush hypothesized that the Democrats were made up of tons of small special interest groups that clashed with each other usually, but all agreed that they had to beat us.  He further went on to say that we did not come together as Republicans in the same way.

There is something to that, but it’s still wrong.

None of us wants to see Barack Obama re-elected, for sure.  We’d gladly put aside any differences between us to defeat him.

No, Rush…  The problem with the establishment Republicans is that the old guard still has the nonsensical idea in their head that they can actually be friends with the Democrats.

When Harry Reid took to the Senate floor with outright lies about Mitt Romney not paying any taxes at all for ten years, I actually saw Lindsey Graham say that he liked Reid, but that Reid just wasn’t being truthful.

And Rush…  That is the problem, right there.

Mr. Graham, I can guarantee you one thing.  Harry Reid does NOT like you.  Harry Reid hates the very air you breathe.  And if he was ever nice to you at any point, it wasn’t genuine.  He’ll only pretend long enough to get as close to you as he can before he sticks a knife in your back.

Younger Republicans and Tea Party members understand this truth, and that is where the disconnect lies within our coalition.

Mitt Romney showed some glimmer of understanding this when he refused to play along with Democrat shell games and release even more of his tax returns, but his campaign staff certainly doesn’t get it at all, and the establishment itself is clueless.

They still think they can all get along and hold hands singing Kum-baya.

That will NEVER happen, and it’s time they realized it.  The Democrats are playing hardball 24/7/365 and if we don’t go for their throats, they WILL get to ours.

We’ll lose.

Our best hope is that Romney nominates a Vice Presidential candidate that understands a truth that Romney himself has so far failed to grasp.

There are no “gentleman’s rules” in modern politics.

This is war.

Should I Feel Sorry?

Joe Soptic lost his wife to cancer.  I felt bad for him.

Joe Soptic

Now I don’t.

Maybe I am wrong for saying so, but I really don’t feel much sympathy for him anymore.

The only person I feel sorry for in all of this mess is his wife.

Cancer is an ugly thing, and it takes the lives of far too many people.  The difference between Soptic and other survivors of those lost to that horrible condition is that they don’t run around blaming others for the sum of all of their woes, much less specific people.

In what represents a new low in modern American politics, the Obama campaign has coordinated with one of its super-PACs to create one of the most heinous pieces of propaganda that I have ever personally witnessed.

In most circles (even most liberal circles) this ad has been rightfully scorned.  But even within the past hour, I witnessed Donna Gentile O’Donnell, advisor to Democrat Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, actually come out to defend the ad, saying that it was appropriate and did not cross a line.

What’s worse is that I couldn’t tell if she was lying, or if she really believed what she said.

Either way, it is a sad indictment of the current state of American politics that anyone like her could come anywhere near a position of political power.

I’d feel a lot more sympathetic to Soptic being used as a tool for people like O’Donnell and Stephanie Cutter (Obama’s Deputy Campaign Manager, and coordinator of these attack ads), except that he is a completely willing tool.  A tool in every sense of the word.

Instead of condemning Mitt Romney and blaming him for the death of his wife, Soptic ought to be out singing Romney’s praises.  The steel mill where Soptic worked was in a death spiral, and set to close down, when Bain Capital purchased a controlling interest in it.  If anything, Romney provided Soptic with several years of employment that he otherwise would not have had.

Romney had stepped down from an active role in Bain Capital a full two years before GST issued layoffs and closed that mill, and a full seven years before Soptic’s wife became ill and was diagnosed with stage four cancer.  Ironically, since Romney’s departure, Bain has been run by Obama bundlers and supporters of the very people currently using Soptic for their own political gain.

And what of Soptic’s union?  When Soptic was layed-off, did they not have any responsibility to him?  Or, were they just interested in him when he was still able to pay union dues?

This whole episode is just disgusting, and it shows how filthy and low Obama and the Democrats really are.

So much for “Hope and Change”.

Axelrod Goes “All-in”

In a couple of my recent pieces, I outlined how the Obama campaign is becoming more desperate, and why.  They’ve stooped to having allies make ridiculous and laughable claims, but they don’t care if people are laughing, because that is of no consequence to them.  The claims, no matter how ludicrous, may still achieve the goals they desire.

But now they’ve lowered the bar even deeper into the mud.

This guy’s horrible comb-over symbolizes his horrible brand of politics.

Having Harry Reid make obviously false claims about Romney’s taxes hasn’t had the effect of forcing Romney to release more tax returns (yet), and the Obama campaign is turning its sights elsewhere.

Over the last few days, Obama himself has taken to making the claim that Romney intends to raise taxes on the middle class, a patently false claim no matter how you look at it.  When asked about this claim, Democrats prevaricate and stumble on about how refusing to raise taxes on the evil rich people (read: small business owners and job creators) is somehow a tax increase on the middle class.

But their devout sycophants will willingly spread the lie, and many people who don’t keep their eye on the ball will probably believe them.  That, my friends, is the reality of politics.  The Obama campaign is banking on the notion that those people who are currently on the fence won’t be doing a lot of fact-checking before they vote.

And it appears that they are willing to go “all-in” on that strategy.

Draw and STRIKE!

In an article appearing in Draw and STRIKE!, author Brian Cates illustrates just how feckless the Obama campaign has become in its quest to retain power.  I highly recommend that every conservative read his piece, and spread it as much as humanly possible.

David Axelrod has always used a strategy of exposing dirt on Obama’s opponents in the past.  His modus operandi often consists of getting a sympathetic Chicago judge to unseal an opponent’s divorce records, since wild, unsubstantiated claims made during divorce proceedings are often very damaging to any political candidate, no matter how false they may be.

In 2008, Axelrod did much the same thing.  He attacked McCain’s previous marriage and even went so far as to circulate rumors that Sarah Palin secretly gave birth to her own grandson.  That, coupled with the blank slate that was Obama, allowed them to run on “Hope and Change” while still using amazingly crass tactics to debase their opponents.

But Obama is not a blank slate to the American public anymore, and “Hope and Change” is off of the table for Axelrod.  Worse yet (for him), Axelrod can’t attack Romney’s very solid marriage.  He just can’t get the dirt he needs for his scorched earth strategy.

So just what is a wayward campaign manager to do..?

Apparently Axelrod has arrived at his conclusion…  Lie.

Lie big.  Lie some more.  No lie is too big or too ridiculous.  They believe that anyone paying enough attention to matter has already decided how they will cast their vote.  Those remaining are all potential suckers.

I won’t go too far into Cates’ piece here; it speaks for itself.  Some news outlets have reported this, but we all know most of them will turn a blind eye.  I suggest for everyone to spread this particular message far and wide.

Because otherwise, a lot of people will believe the lies.

Reid Takes a Bullet Full of Crazy for Obama and DNC

It has been an interesting week in the world of Politics.

Again, I could do with seeing less of this guy.

“Dirty” Harry Reid, the Senate Leader from Nevada, has come out to accuse presidential contender Mitt Romney of failing to file tax returns for ten years.  Oh, the joy he brings to a political pundit and strategist like me!

Reid makes these accusations based upon an obviously solid “source”…  himself!

Nevermind that the IRS, currently under control of the Obama administration, has never found fault with Romney.  Nevermind that Romney has released more tax returns than Reid (who has released exactly zero).  I delight in the irony of such an accusation coming from someone who lives in the Ritz Carlton, has dubious connections to organized crime in Nevada, and got very rich shortly after becoming a Senator, even though a Senator’s salary really isn’t all that high.

Senate Leader Whackadoodle just keeps on giving.

But Harry Reid doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him.  Obviously, he couldn’t care less what conservatives think, but he doesn’t care what other liberals think, or what the media thinks, either…  at least not right now.

That is because Harry Reid got re-elected in 2010 and he has another four years before he has to care what anyone thinks of him.  By then, everyone is sure to have forgotten this.

But even Reid himself is highly unlikely to believe his own story.  So, why make it all up?

As I pointed out in my article yesterday, the Obama campaign is desperate to dig up some dirt on the squeaky clean (for a politician, anyway) Mitt Romney.  Everything they have tried to use against Romney has fallen flat, and they’re out of ideas.  They need more dirt, so they have turned to Romney and they’re practically begging for his help.  But that rat bastard Romney just won’t budge!  How dare he..?

So far, the Democrats have tried everything they can think of to get Romney to help them, and none of it is getting enough traction in the press to force Romney’s hand.

Enter Harry Reid.

Obama and the DNC needed someone to escalate things into the realm of crazypants, and Reid fit the bill.  He’s perfect for the job.

The only thing Reid has to lose right now is his position as Majority Leader in the Senate, and he stands a much greater chance of holding on to that job if Obama gets re-elected.  As the Senate Majority Leader, the media is obligated to give him coverage, which spreads the lie almost as well as if Obama himself were to say it.  Reid can feel safe making the accusation from the Senate floor, because doing so gives him legal immunity from being taken to court for anything that he says, and Reid is bulletproof electorally.

Perfect!

Now DNC operatives and liberal pundits are free to distance themselves from Reid publicly, while rushing to the airwaves to claim that “Romney can clear all of this up by just releasing more tax returns”, which has been their goal all along.

While it is typical of the liberal mindset that the accused must prove himself innocent rather than the accuser proving guilt (at least when it comes to Republicans), that isn’t really something upon which anyone should focus.

The real thing of interest to a pundit like me is that the liberal sharks don’t smell any blood in the waters.  They really WANT to smell it, but they don’t…

They’re being denied their feeding frenzy, and it is making them slowly go insane (well, okay… more insane).

Expect them to get crazier as we get closer to November!

Someone pass the popcorn…

Tax Cut War Goes Beyond Obama’s Rhetoric

Friends, I am very tired.

Tired in the sense that I am sick of liberal crap enough to want to strangle every single last one of them.

President Bush signed tax cuts in 2001 and 2003

What set me over the edge (this time)?  Believe it or not, it is the subject of the “Bush Tax Cuts”.  I weary of this battle, which is perhaps exactly the way liberals want us all to feel.  But I am not weary in the sense that they had probably hoped.

Every year or two, we are drawn back into the same old debate that should have been settled nearly a decade ago.  It isn’t the debate itself that irritates me so much as the reason for having it.  I also grate at the so-called mainstream media, who portray the issue as “tax cuts for the rich” every year, instead of what it truly is; liberal Democrats pushing for tax hikes on a full-time basis.  What further annoys me is the new liberal strategy of declaring that we should all join together to pass the parts upon which we agree, and fight over our differences later.  Like every liberal position and talking point, it sounds great on a superficial level, but in translation it amounts to “give us everything we want and we’ll just sit back and ignore you later”.

The problem is this:  Every since the original legislation was passed, Democrats who vote for–or refrain from blocking a vote on–the bill will do so only on the condition that it never becomes permanent.  Their reason for doing this is far more maddening.  It isn’t because they truly believe that the legislation is bad, or they would never have voted for it in the first place.  The real reason is that liberals and their media lap-dogs believe that they have discovered a shiny, brand new way to deceive the American public.

Throughout their entire history, the Democrats have had the desire to raise taxes and expand government.  Thus, the term “tax and spend” has haunted them, especially during election years.  Unfortunately, early in George W. Bush’s first term, the Democrats found a way to remove that stigma from themselves, and the Republicans unwittingly abetted them.

Conservatives can make the argument every time that we are not actually debating tax cuts, and the failure to extend the Bush legislation would actually amount to a massive tax increase.  However, I fear that this argument is largely lost on the American public, who are more likely to see the battle every year as one being fought over tax cuts, like the media constantly tells them.

Now every year, instead of Democrats being correctly pilloried for their constant desire to increase taxes, they are free to portray themselves as champions of the poor and the middle class, while demonizing conservatives as being beholden to those evil rich.  It a cynical ploy on the instinctive human nature, to which all of us are susceptible, for people to envy those more successful than themselves;  Class warfare.

So, what do we do about it?

There are only three paths:

1.  Make the original legislation permanent

2.  Allow the tax cuts to expire completely

3.  Give the Democrats what they claim to want

The second one is off the table entirely.  It would be a public relations disaster for Republicans, but it would also be a disaster for the American public, which is far more important.  Still, the political implications are sad, because if it had been left to Democrats, none of these cuts would ever have existed, and it is only because of the Democrats that the legislation is at risk of expiring.  But the Republicans would be the ones blamed if such a thing were actually to come to pass.

The third option is off the table largely for the same reasons as the second.  While the Republicans are far less likely to face negative political consequences in this scenario, the damage to the American economy would still be devastating.  Even the most squishy Republicans would not allow this to happen, and, oddly enough, they would likely be joined by at least a few Democrats to prevent it, despite the rhetoric coming from the DNC and President Obama.

That leaves only the first option, but how do we make it happen?

I could do with seeing less of this guy.

Well, that’s the real trick, isn’t it?  Obviously, it could never happen with Obama in the White House, and so he must go.  It also could never happen with Harry Reid leading the Senate, and so conservatives must turn out in record numbers this year to take the Senate back from the Democrats.  Large as they may seem, these are not the biggest obstacles to the goal of making permanent the Bush legislation.

Even if we take back the Senate, we will almost certainly not be able to obtain a 60-vote majority.  Unfortunately, the Democrats that would be likely to join us in avoiding a massive tax hike on those evil rich people who run small businesses across the country would be just as likely to balk at the notion of making things permanent.  They’re not likely to easily let go of their pretty new political toy.  They would try to block any effort to take their toy away from them, even to the point of filibuster.

In order to get this done, we must make the notion of temporary extensions politically toxic in such a way as to prevent liberals from blocking a vote to make this legislation permanent.  That isn’t going to be easy, but I believe that it can be done.

We all know President Obama is only bringing up the matter of taxes to avoid having to address his horrible performance on the economy.  It’s just his latest in a long line of distractions.  The issue isn’t really on the table until after the elections, anyway–during the lame-duck session.

But the time to start our drum beat is still NOW.  We need to use the opening he provided us to hammer the point home, over and over, that the uncertainty caused by the constant debate over this legislation is having an extremely negative effect on our economy.  This has the virtue of being true.  I believe it will resonate, and should be repeated as often as possible.

Assuming we do take back the White House and the Senate, we must aggressively take this battle to the Democrats during the lame-duck session of Congress.  We must demand that these cuts finally be made permanent, and refuse to budge.  If the Democrats still won’t give in, then we should threaten to let the entire legislation expire, and inform the American public that we will reinstate it once our newly elected representatives are seated.  That would still be time enough to prevent a tax hike from effecting the American people in April.

My friends, it is time to reverse the roles here.  It is time for us to put the Democrats in the position that they should rightfully hold; that of being in favor of raising taxes on everyone.  We must put them on the defensive.

Do Republicans have the strength of will to act this aggressively?

I honestly do not know.

But they are our only chance to take this fight to the Democrat’s doorstep.
